CALL FOR ART | ARTISTS ON FIRE “A Smalls Show”

Artists on Fire is an annual exhibition curated by Juniper Rag at the Krikorian Gallery at Worcester Center for Crafts. All artists are called to submit work for Artists on Fire, curated by Juniper Rag and organized in collaboration with Worcester Center for Crafts. We are seeking “smalls”, affordable work that’s hot!

NEW this year, we will have 2 openings!

One just for Artists on Fire and one on Hot Night in the City, their hottest night of the year attracting festival lovers from all over New England.

HOT NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • This event brings in thousands of people every year
  • Open studios and demonstrations in metal, glass, fiber and ceramics, food trucks, wine trucks, local breweries, live music inside and outside and cash bars
  • Discover all of the amazing facilities at the Craft Center, the oldest professional craft education facility in America.

We study our stats year-over-year and update our format based on findings in sales, feedback, and overall data we collect. The small format has proved to be a smashing success. Artists on Fire is about merchandising your cohesive collection and selling, selling, selling.

The subject matter for Artists on Fire is always up to you. Kick the summer off with sales. With accessible prices under $500, we will offer original art for new collectors and sweet opportunities for seasoned pros. We want people going home with fabulous art to hang in their homes and our artists to have profits in their pockets.

NEW: Awards for 3 Curator's Choice will be chosen!

Each artist will receive an artist feature and social media posts.

UPDATED FORMAT, PRICING STRUCTURE & COMMISSIONS

This show is about small, cohesive and accessible art.

  • Submit work under 20 x 20 inches max (with or without frame). Please note: Artwork does not all have to be the exact same size, although we prefer it.
  • Work will be shown in columns by artist all around the room, creating a visually appealing exhibition.
  • Pitch your work! Each artist should provide 2-5 sentences about yourself and why your art should be collected to be included on the gallery tags. [Ex: The artwork of Anna Artist was made to bring awareness to global warming and has been shown at MoMA, featured on NBC and collected by Jane Collector, London.]
  • Strong submissions will be of a series of similar style, color ways or uniting factors so they hang together well as a grouping from you. Read our blog articles to familiarize yourself with submission tips if needed.

All work should be gallery priced between $150 and $500.

  • Artists on Fire is about collecting, and artists promoting the event and building excitement. Invite people you know that love your work. Set a goal of selling all of your work and aligning invitations with potential collectors. This is what we do with every exhibition. Strategize your exhibition opportunity!
  • Accessible pricing sells more artwork and introduces people to collecting, we are seeing a core group of returning artists getting attention!
  • Hot Night features festival art vendors outside as well. If you are showing outside, we support your hustle, but please DO NOT sell prints of your work that hang in Artists on Fire.

Artists receive 50% commission.

  • Commission is 50% of sale price of each piece sold.
